You can trim it back but it sounds like it's not getting enough light. That problem needs to be solved first before you do any trimming or the plant might not have the energy to sprout again.
My 2" pot was lush/compact. Now it's 4-5" tall, sparse, and brittle. Can I propagate somehow or trim it back? Crassula muscosa - Watch Chain Fairy Garden Succulents
