I just received my variegated string and it has no pink?
Senecio rowleyanus f. variegatus - Variegated String of Pearls
Should I expect to see pink develop on the plant as it grows or did I simply get an unlucky pick without any pink variation to develop?

For many succulents, including the Variegated String of Pearls, pink pigments intensify when the plant gets more sunlight. It produces more anthocyanins (red pigments) in response to moderate stress like direct sun and drought. So if you can move your plant to a sunnier location, it should respond with "beautifully stressed" pink tones.
