What did I do wrong?
Lithops - Living Stones [limited]
Fairy Garden Succulents
I bought one these and loved it. I stopped watering in the winter and it shriveled up. Previously I watered it once a month but the leaves on the side did not dry up. I had it under a grow light, do you handle this differently with a grow light? I live in Florida but have limited natural light in my house.

Humidity could be the issue. Watering once a month may have lead to a mild case of root rot that was intensified by the increase in humidity once winter set in.
It could also have to do with your soil. If the soil didn't drain water fast enough, or if the pot didn't have a drainage hole, the water may not have been able to escape. That would lead to humidity intensified root rot as well.
