As resilient as succulents are, too much water can be a huge challenge to their growth. There are a number of strategies to improve drainage and protect your succulents from rot for you to consider before planting. You can find them listed below, along with the varieties that can survive humid conditions.
First, Improve Drainage
- Plant in gritty, well-draining soil like succulent / cactus soil from a garden center
- Amend heavy garden soil with 50% coarse sand by volume
- Plant in raised beds and containers with drainage holes
- Move pots under roofs or put clear, plastic sheeting at least 18" above beds during the rainy season
