Answer Question
What would be the best grow light for an Echeveria? Can they live well under one?
Grow Light for Echeveria. Thank you for answering my question under Echeveria 'Serrana' [exclusive] earlier this morning. I'm the one who posted that I live in Zone 10a (Florida) and get direct sun outside from 3-4pm to 7pm-ish. I have a few follow up questions, if that's okay.
1) The temps can get to 90-95, some times 97 degrees outside during the summer. Would it still be okay to have Echeveria outside during the summer with those high temps? Obviously paying close attention to it's needs and checking the soil for when it needs a deep, infrequent drink again.
2) Do you think Echeveria (Morning Beauty, Blue Bird, Blue Atoll, Atlantis, Lola, Raindrops, etc.) would do good under a grow lamp inside? We have one large West facing window. We close the blinds and black out curtains after the sun starts hitting it in the afternoon. It makes our home really warm if we don't. (The window glass gets to 103* degrees.) I'd like to try my hand at growing a few inside. I've never done so before.
3) Are there any resources on the website regarding grow lights and what would work best for them? Such as full spectrum vs red and blue?
4) Does it matter how big the pot is that I plant the succulents in? I was considering a 14" or 20", putting the correct soil in, and then placing give to six 2" Echeveria's in it. I've read online that you should get a pot only 2 inches bigger than the plant(s) themselves. Is this true?
I appreciate your time and help. Along with your patience with all my questions.
