I live on zone 8. Temps go from 105 down to 19 (unusual and lasting only 1-2 days)

The heat is frequently prolonged staying low 90s to 100. I believe that the cold would be OK, but the heat fries them. I am new to this and have not had a chance to try hardy varieties.

Frost hardy succulents can tolerate brief heat spells. You can help them tolerate the heat by planting in spots that get afternoon shade, watering deeply in the morning, and pulling any pots into shade during heat spells.
