mine put up straight limbs has not bloomed di i need to stop watering now we are in midfle of summer here

Yes, a period of drought and summer dormancy will cause the plant to drop its leaves, so that you can try again for curly leaves when you start watering again in the fall. More sunlight and less frequent water can help the re-sprouted leaves keep their curl.
