Gymnocalycium tend to open their blooms when they're receiving the most light. Depending on where you're growing this plant, that time could vary, but it's usually in the earlier portions of the afternoon.
Mine is blooming now, but I haven't seen it fully open. What time of day is best for viewing? Gymnocalycium schreiteri
