How do I calculate how many plants to purchase?

It really depends on how you want to space them. If you buy more Sedum and plant them with about 2" between them, you'll get a nice filled in look very quickly. Or you could buy fewer plants, space them 4"-6" apart and wait longer for them to spread and fill in.
