Regardless of the size of the Echeveria, it's a good idea to repot if it starts becoming root bound. Examine the root ball immediately after watering. Did the water penetrate all the way to the bottom of the pot? Are the roots curled around the drainage holes? These questions will help you determine when it's time to repot. Water should flow freely through the soil and the roots should be mostly hidden by the soil.
