Can I get zone 5 sedums to grow in zone 4 ?
Sedum (Stonecrop)
I have a large rock pile from rocks that have been removed from my pastures. I would like to turn the rock pile into a rock garden. It faces South. Any sugestions would be greatly appreciated.

If the temperature threatens to get lower than -20°F, try covering the rock pile with a tarp. It won't hurt the dormant Sedum and it may trap just enough heat for them to survive. Firing up a smudge pot, like the ones they use to protect orchards when blossoming, will also protect your Sedum. Finally, planting your Sedum next to a heated structure will protect them, just enough, from the coldest nights.
