You'll want to leave them soaking until the top of the soil feels damp. The time will vary depending on your soil mix and the size and material of the container. Thirty minutes is a great place to start, but don't worry about leaving them in a bit longer if you're unsure. The real key is to wait a long time between waterings so that the soil can fully dry out. The leaves will feel less turgid and might even wrinkle when they're finally ready for another soak.
