My lithops started growing a second pair of new leaves
Lithops - Living Stones [limited]
Fairy Garden Succulents
My lithops flowered last fall, was quiet and dry for a while, then split to grow a new set of leaves about a month ago. I haven’t watered it, waiting until the old leaves are totally absorbed. Today I checked and it has split a second time to grow new leaves again! There are now 3 layers of leaves visible: last year’s old leaves, this winter’s leaves, and now a brand new set. Several of my lithops are doing this. I haven’t watered them all winter and they are looking shriveled. Why are they growing so many new leaves so soon?

It's possible you're not seeing a new generation of leaves, but "twins"! Lithops frequently produce two (occasionally three) pairs of new leaves in a single bloom cycle. As the outer leaf pair dries, it keeps spreading open and reveals the other "twin". These will look like two Lithops next to each other, rather than one inside the other. You're doing everything right by watering to water.
If it is another pair of leaves emerging from within last month's leaf pair, you'll be going even longer without watering, waiting for both sets of outer leaves to become dry and papery.
