How do you get bare root astroph which are cut to nubs, to quickly and healthily root? Is it best to plant in soil

Planting in soil is the best way to develop the roots of a cactus. Simply plant the roots in a mineral based soil, wait a few days for the cactus to adjust to its new soil, then water. As long as the soil is well draining and it's getting plenty of light, it should have no trouble growing roots.
