is there a way to keep cactus smaller

I have limited space for my cacti and I was wondering if a smaller pot would keep them from getting to their full height without causing them harm.

Planting cacti in small pots does tend to limit their size. Planting lots of cacti in one pot does the same thing. It's important to note that the diameter of the pot is more important than its depth. This is because cactus roots are, most often, shallow and spreading.
