String of pearls does like more water than many other succulents. As such, they can handle a more organic, water retentive soil, than other succulents. Regular potting soil mixed in a 1:1 ratio with coarse sand or perlite ought to work well.
Make sure they're getting plenty of light, but not blasted by the sun for too long. A south facing window is great but put it in the right side of the window so it catches some afternoon shade. Or, if using a grow light, give it 12 hours of light per day.
Surprisingly enough, string of pearls likes to root very deeply so don't use a shallow pot. Be sure the pot has a drainage hole to allow excess water to leave.
