Hi Jan! Air plants are certainly unique but their care is very simple once you get the hang of it.
Air plants don't absorb water through their roots like most plants. Instead, they pull it right out of the high mountain fog, where they're native to, using their leaves. To simulate this at home, immerse the plant completely in a bucket of water for 1 or 2 hours every week.
Air plants don't require much light so feel free to place them in north facing windows, or other areas that only get a little light.
They don't need much fertilizer, but using our air plant food formula, you can simply mist the plants with the fertilizer once a week or so for a month. That should be plenty to get it through the year.
