Sometimes, when grown indoors, succulents will lose their dormancy period and sometimes they won't. Many succulents, like Haworthia and Albuca spiralis, will not go dormant if they are watered as normal though the summer. However, if left dry, they'll go dormant anyway.
It's best to look for signs of dehydration before watering anytime of the year, but, for summer dormant plants, that becomes even more crucial advice in the summer. Signs of dehydration include wrinkles, flaccid leaves and red or purple coloration.
