It's important to note that the below tips only work for plants that are one zone above the zone you're in. For instance, you're in a zone 7 area, then this works for zone 8 plants. These tips aren't enough to grow zone 10 plants outdoors in the winter.
Placing the strawberry pot close to a home, or other heated structure, can help a plant stay warm during a cold night. Although very little heat escapes through insulation, the small amount that does is sometimes enough to save a plant.
Covering the pot with a sheet in the winter will help too. Many outdoor succulents will be dormant during the winter anyway, so it won't hurt them. Depending on the size of your strawberry pot, an old bed sheet works well for this.
