It cannot. The yellow, moon cactus part and the green stemmed cactus are two separate plants that have been grafted together. The reason this graft was necessary was because the moon cactus doesn't have enough chlorophyll to do photosynthesis. The green stem cactus does photosynthesis for both of them so the moon cactus is free to express that lemon yellow pigment.
