If the top part has any stem attached to it then you can treat it like a cutting. Leave it out for a few days to allow a callous to form over the broken part. Afterwards, poke that calloused end into well draining soil. Then give the cutting strong light and more water than you would give a rooted specimen. In a week or two, it should develop roots.
If the top part that broke off is made up of only leaves you won't be able to save them. The rest of the plant will just have to grow new leaves.
