The succulent cuttings can indeed be glued to the pumpkins and can even be propagated afterwards. We only send cuttings with the pumpkin cutting packs. I'm sure there's a way to use rooted plants and use the pumpkin as a, sort of, pot but we don't do that. As far as how long the pumpkin itself lasts, that depends on the air temperature. Warmer pumpkins tend to rot faster.
However, another thing to note is that many of the succulent cuttings are not cold hardy, so if the pumpkin is subjected to a frosty October night, some of the succulent cuttings won't survive.
