Good question! The measurements of the saucers are rim to rim. What you're describing is more similar to the 4 inch saucer which is in stock at the moment.
If you really want the 3 inch saucer, there is a button under the "Add to Cart" button where you can set up an email alert to be notified when these come back in stock. I hope this helps!
