You certainly don't have to use Bonsai Jack soil specifically. Thin-leaved succulents and the "string of" varieties like a less gritty soil anyway. You can find bagged cactus & succulent mixes at most garden centers or you can mix your own soil. I've had luck with soil as simple as one part potting soil and two parts perlite or pumice.
