My E. melaco is planted in the ground in full sun. It's healthy but after a year, shows little growth. Suggestions?
Echeveria 'Melaco' [large]
No attacks by bugs or critters that take bites out of a few of my other succulents. So what's the issue? Ordinary potting soil mix doesn't provide sufficient drainage? Pollution? (I live in fire-prone California but at least 20-30 miles away from a fire zone.) BTW, I'm a master gardener for Alameda County, not a novice. Thanks.

E. 'Melaco' isn't an especially large Echeveria. Even mature plants tend to stay under 5" in diameter. If you feel like it's staying well under that size, monthly fertilizer diluted to half-strength can encourage growth in the spring to early summer. Echeveria usually like a light, well-draining soil with more mineral grit than ordinary potting soil. But if you haven't seen watering issues like rot, it's probably fine. Full sun in Alameda County has a way of drying out soil nicely for succulents.
Hope that helps!
