Hello there!
A plug is a very small version of the plant that usually comes without anything covering the roots. If the plug has anything covering the roots, it's a 1.5" plastic wrap, essentially.
The advantage of this is that plugs tend to be cheaper than their potted counterparts and you can personally grow them from an earlier stage.
The disadvantage is that plugs take longer to mature because they get to you as baby plants.
