The nights are already cold here (upstate NY.) Can the hardy succulents I just ordered go outside right away?

Outdoor succulents need to be planted at least one month before the first frost so that they have time to establish their roots. Alternatively, you can wait until after the last spring frost to plant them outdoors, keeping them on a very sunny window sill and keeping them mostly dry to help them tolerate a winter of indoor growing.
