Sempervivum love the outdoors. They like getting cold and being rooted in tiny cracks in rock with terrible soil. They like drought and dry air and conditions that other plants would find quite inhospitable. However, as a houseplant they tend to grow in a lethargic manner and are more susceptible to rot.
