These are likely to be some form of scale or mealy bug and they can be quite the pest. Applying 70% isopropyl alcohol to the whole plant (and especially the bugs) will kill them on contact. Repeat every couple of days until all the bugs die.
However, if the worms are white with black heads then these are fungus gnat larva. Because they live underground they will be harder to destroy with the alcohol. First, dig the plant up and remove the soil from the roots as much as possible (along with any worm you see). Then pot it in a grittier, dry soil. The fungus gnats like to lay their eggs in moist soil.
