This plant does not tolerate freezing temperatures, so in zone 5 it will need to be indoors for much of the year. Transplant it into a pot with a drainage hole and use a well-draining soil like Bonsai Jack's Gritty Mix. Keep it in a south-facing window sill or under a strong, Succulent Grow Light. Drench deeply enough for water to run out the drainage hole, then allow the soil to completely dry out and don't water again until the leaves start to feel flexible. Once all risk of frost has passed, you can gradually move it outdoors to partial then full sun over the course of about two weeks. Sunshine and drought will get you the best colors on these (and most!) succulents. Enjoy!
