The spines are not sharp on 'Mission to Mars', and I see what you mean about similarity to 'Inkblot'.
I was just looking at these two in the greenhouse and they're pretty similar, especially in coloration. However, 'Inkblot' has leaves that are much narrower and generally longer than 'Mission to Mars' so structurally, they're fairly different.
As plugs, they're going to be very similar to each other anyway, on account of them being so immature. If they both were given time to grow and they were well taken care of (with strong light like you mentioned) their differences would quickly become apparent.
