Mangave is a hybrid between plants in the genus Manfreda and plants in the genus Agave. These plants are attractive because they keep the robust and sharp shape of the Agave while keeping the green and purple coloration of the Manfreda. Mangave are a new hybrid, coming about roughly 20 years ago so gardeners have only recently caught on to this phenomena. I hope this helps!
