The USDA maps all of the US into hardiness zones based on average annual minimum temperature. You can find out which hardiness zone you're in by consulting this map or entering your zip code into the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map.
Once you know which hardiness zone you're in, you can use our Cold Hardiness filter to search for varieties that can grow in your zone. You can plant varieties rated for zones lower than your own, but plants with higher zone ratings will need to be brought indoors during the winter.
